Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am Ms. Tanya Thompson and I am currently serving as the Special Education Teacher for Barton Chapel Elementary School. I possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration for Management from Brenau University, a Master in Business Administration Management from Southern Wesleyan and a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. Before entering my career in education, I worked with children with disabilities to include Autism and Intellectual Disabilities by providing case management. I have also worked with children who have mental health diagnosis. I have worked several years in a behavioral hospital to learn how to deal with behaviors and to help with learning. I have been a foster parent since 2009 and I have a son who will be a 6^th grader this year whom I am in the process of adopting. We both take care of our two dogs: GiGi and Kito.  I have experience as an educator by working for Aiken Technical College since 2008 as a business adjunct instructor.  I love working with children and will make a positive impact on all students to help them with their education by educating them in a way that accommodates their individual differences, disabilities, and

special needs. I will promote a health learning environment.
