About Me
Hello, my name is Shaketa Rouse, and this year I will be working with the Special Education Department teaching ELA/Math. If I had to describe myself in one word it would be decerning. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 2nd grade thanks to Mrs. Vanessa Chance-Darling. I grew up in Augusta, Ga (Across the tracks as some of the students would say), the same area as my students. I overcame my obstacles by putting my plans and goals in action. I was a long-term substitute for two years and got hired on with the Board of Education. In 2023-2024 I was an 8th grade ELA teacher here at Hornsby Middle School. I saw tremendous growth in my students from CMAs to GMAS. 2024-2025 school year is my first year teaching 7th grade. I’m currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix for my Masters in Education/Special Education. In the famous Whitney Houston voice, “I BELIEVE OUR CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE.”
