Welcome Letter

Hello Parents,
My name is Kim Wheadon and I will be your child’s physical education teacher this year. I intend on this school year being informative and exciting for your child. Your child will be participating in multiple activities, sports, and state mandated fitness testing. Some of the activities that your child will be participating in will be activities that develop motor skills, team activities, cooperation, physical fitness, and recreational skills. I do not ask your child to be a sport superstar but what I do ask, is that your child comes to class every day and follows the class rules, participates, and gives 100% effort in physical education.Students learn in a variety of ways in P.E. class. The goal is to provide maximum participation for each student and to provide challenges and successes for each ability level within the class.
As Physical Educator I pledge to:
~ Establish a positive and safe learning environment for all students
~ Teach a variety of activities that make physical education fun and enjoyable
~ Create maximum opportunities for students of all abilities to be successful
~ Promote student honesty, integrity and good sportsmanship
~ Guide students into becoming skillful and confident movers
~ Facilitate the development and maintenance of physical fitness
~ Assist students in setting and achieving personal goals
~ Provide specific and constructive feedback to help students master motor skills
~ Prepare and encourage students to gain skills and be active for a lifetime
I expect that our students will:
~ Learn
~ Have fun
~ Try their best
~ Wear gym shoes and proper P.E. attire
~ Cooperate with others
~ Be safe in all their actions
~ Help their fellow students
~ Stay on task
~ Be polite and respect themselves, teachers and other students
~ Pay attention to the teacher
***If your child has any physical disabilities or medical conditions, please let me know. Problems such as chronic asthma, allergies, heart problems, diabetes, etc. need to be brought to my attention and documented in the PE office. Prior knowledge will help me monitor your child closely and correct or alleviate any problems that arise. The students’ safety is important to me as they go through their PE routine.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at 706-868-4022 Ext. 1620.
I am looking forward to a fabulous and fun year!
