Welcome to Modern Dance@DFA!!
It is my pleasure to work with you this year! I am pleased to see many familiar faces, as well as so many new faces! To those new faces, I want you to know that you have landed in a very special place. Davidson is a place where you cannot only achieve greatness in your academics, but also in the arts! There are few opportunities to attend a public school of this caliber, so I hope you will keep that in mind throughout your DFA journey.
Dances will not only be a journey for you, it’s a discipline that requires a lot of hard work, focus, energy, and determination, but will leave you feeling physically and mentally fit. It’s good for the body and the mind! Believe it or not, dance can help you with everyday life skills, such as confidence, attentiveness, memorization, and self-discipline. It can even help in your academic subjects with things like problem-solving and critical thinking skills. By the way, you don’t have to want to be a professional dancer to enjoy dance training, and you also don’t have to be female; boys can dance too! I do hope you will come to class each and every day prepared to work hard, and challenge your mind and body to improve your creative skills.
