Reading and writing will be a CRITICAL component in our classroom. Each morning we will start with a journal writing and throughout the day students will be provided the opportunity to read silently or with the class. We will dig deeper into how to write Narratives, Informationals, and Opinion/Explanatory paper. We will visit the library weekly to check out two books (fiction and nonfiction) that are at each child's lexile level. Students will be encouraged to take AR test on books that they read and will be rewarded based on classroom goals.
Students will have spelling words each week and a spelling test on Fridays.
