    STUDENT COUNCIL ADVISORS: Shari Hooper, Sarah Wong, Gordon Holley

     

    • The Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults.
    • Student Council members are elected and there is an application process.
    • Fourth and Fifth grade students may apply to be on the student council.
    • The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.
    • The online application in Google Forms is below. Applications open September 2nd-9th
    • Online applications must be completed no later than September 9th.
    • Teachers also rate potential student council members (more info below)

    • September 24, Tuesday Eve, Initiation Ceremony for Parents 5:00 p.m. ceremony, 5:30 reception  (TENTATIVE DATE)
    • Students will vote on paper ballots from September 11-13.
    • Students must be present to vote; no make-up voting will occur. 

    Please, there will be no campaigning, paper solicitations, gifts, or posters allowed in our process.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR POTENTIAL CANDIDATES LISTED BELOW:

    *must have votes of confidence/recommendations from previous grade level and special teachers (teachers students choose on online app will rate the student)

    *ratings will be the following: (1 weak-5 strong on each category below)

    trustworthiness, cooperation w peers, work ethic/effort, grades, cooperation w adults

    *must be voted in by classmates; students will get to place a vote after reviewing the qualified candidates 

    *must have parents' permission, parent support, and transportation for special events after school (must be picked up by 3:00)

    *must have very few or no incidents of tardiness, absence, and behavior difficulties 

    *must have a history of positive interpersonal skills and good character traits

     

    After being elected to the Student Council, these school leaders will be building greeters and guides for some special events, workers at school functions(some during and some after school), and also serve the school as elected officials. As officials, the club will plan student service initiatives such as canned food drive, etc.
