    Welcome to Ms. Lanham's Kindergarten Class!!
     
    I am excited about being your child's teacher this school year!! Kindergarten is so much fun.  This year will be packed full of information and learning! You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. I look forward to working with your child and the opportunity of getting to know you.  Teaching is my passion and childhood dream. My significant role is to nurture students and help them succeed in learning.  I believe that each child can learn and deserves the chance to do so.
    My goal is for all students to exceed in learning!! Listed below are Kindergarten Standards:
     
    Language Arts- Students will be required to master Kindergarten Identifying letters and sounds, Blending, I-Ready, sight words, read with fluency, comprehension, and participate in Writer's Workshop, where students will learn the fundamentals of informational text, writing. sentences and drawing a picture to go alone with a sentenc or topic.
     
    Math- Counting and Comparing numbers, Measuring and Analying Data, Investigating Addition, Subtraction and Shapes.

    Social Studies- Students will learn about historical figures: Georgia's first people, How Georgia Became a Colony, Geography.
     
    Science- students will learn about Nature of Science, Physical Properties of, Gravity and Motion, Day/Night Sky, Living/Nonliving things, Animals,
    Plants, Rocks and Soil.
     
    An active parent/guardian is one of the best resources to have when it comes to an academically successful child.  Therefore, we look forward to working with parents to teach the total child to excel and have a year of great expectations and success!
